First of all, I would like to say that Docu was not my first choice when I entered blueREP—Docu chose me (quite literally!). And even though I didn't get into the departments I was eyeing for, Docu nevertheless became a second home to me! It became a space for me to explore what I can do, especially in editing videos and photos. It also became an avenue for me to meet amazing people whom I don't know I would do without. These people inspired me to grow, to explore, to be myself, to be anything, and to be blueREP!) And so, while Docu was not my first choice, I am so glad Docu chose me—and to me, Docu is first in my heart.

I’ll be honest— online documentations work is weird. Like, how am I supposed to describe it? Sure, I can tell people that I’m either the “taga-screenshot ng Zoom pages” during meetings or resident video editor (that’s been bullied into a new project), but neither really encompass what it means to be a Documentations blueREPper. In a world of online theatre, what am I willingly doing in a department that’s been stripped of everything that it used to be? Well simple— it’s the people. Being in Docu exposed me to some of the most talented, creative, and skilled minds that the org has to offer, and I’m nothing less than grateful. The abundance of expertise in the department has been both a humbling and eye-opening experience, as I get to learn from those around me. It’s in this department that I’ve met my like-minded crackheads who are now nothing short of being called my friends, and for that, my heart is happy. Yeah, online docu work is a far cry from ideal, but if it means keeping the connections I’ve made, then I’ll wholeheartedly accept it.

When I joined Documentations, I came straight from the Makeup, Costumes, and Hair department, and didn’t know what “ISO” was. Later, I learned that my lack of technical knowledge and experience didn’t matter—what really drives the department is curiosity. The team loved to explore ways we could interpret a material, then approach our output. Our work was always fulfilling as a result, because we understood that it impacted a larger ecosystem beyond our department. That’s what stuck with me as a blueREPper: that creativity shines, even when it’s cultivated off-stage, from behind a lens.
