Design and Publications

DaP members design publication materials, posters, and assets that are utilized during blasts, and ideate on the production’s visual elements and promotional pegs.

Joining blueREP’s Design and Publications department was something I did not expect to be part of nor did I think that I would dedicate a lot of my time to it. Entering college, I was honestly not planning to join anything that involved creatives anymore, but DaP changed that! Being a part of DaP allowed me to see theatre in another perspective. I was able to meet and work with so many people with different backgrounds, talents, interests. Seeing how things worked from behind the scenes allowed me to truly believe that anyone can be a theatre kid. I am happy to say that the friends I’ve made throughout my membership in DaP and blueREP are genuine ones that would last a lifetime!

Looking back, I have never truly known what I was walking into when I first signed up for blueREP—partly because of my little knowledge about theater (especially online) and mostly because of how festive the environment actually was. Upon working within the DaP team on my newbie prod, WAKA, I realized how warm and open the org was to members of different backgrounds, skill sets, and charms, as every production manifested a celebration of it all. Working alongside such talented people especially inspired me to do just as well and further pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Collaborating with other creatives within the org alone had been nothing but fun, value-adding, and fulfilling so far and I just can’t wait for our next milestones to conquer ahead.

Since joining in my freshie year, blueREP allowed me to experiment with finding my style as a visual artist and graphic designer and provided me with the opportunities to practice my craft. Whether I was a production team member or a Company Core officer, working in Design & Publications meant combining my passion for graphic design and musical theatre and a lot of collaboration with other creative individuals! I love helping form a production’s visual identity and branding, seeing digital designs printed on shirts and tarps, and promoting the shows through the meaningful design the team creates.
