Onstage, on camera, and even on canteen tables, the Performance Competency strives to build triple threats who can sing, dance, and act, all at the same time. Our performers get to experience small-scale gigs or large-scale productions under the mentorship of theatre professionals, blueREP alumni, and fellow student artists.
Being a cast member in a blueREP production is all about finding joy in putting in the work. Admittedly there will be high expectations, but witnessing your growth after learning from industry professionals and senior members is its own reward. Being a performer in the organization is worth a shot for anyone aspiring to hone their skills, and experience firsthand what is demanded of those at the professional level.
I experienced a lot of growth in terms of my relationship with myself and with other people after having been a blueREP cast member myself. I exercised courage, trust, love, and understanding. There is nothing more wonderful than creating worlds and friendships with my castmates and have people see that on and off stage. That's something I sincerely hope more actors get to experience.
As an awkward kid, blueREP helped me grow as a person and performer in ways I couldn't even imagine was possible. Even coming back 8 years after my Newbie production, I am still in awe of the work ethic that the organization instills in its members. I have blueREP to thank for helping me rediscover and appreciate my voice and craft.
